"Expanding Athletic Opportunity to Tomorrow's Leaders"
The NCGA was created to fill a gap in today's grappling community.
Despite the fact that grappling is one of the fastest growing male sports in America , colleges and universities have been unable to offer grappling opportunities for their incoming students within their athletic departments. The NCGA builds programs under the student services or recreational sports departments of universities. We provide a national governing body for competition, communication and promotion of college grappling
The NCGA is committed to a vision that has at its core increased athletic opportunity for all students. We hope to provide a spawning ground for new grappling teams. Teams that draw students who will chose an institution of higher education for its academic excellence. With college grappling in it's infancy the NCGA will develop a solid set of safe competition and practice rules that will protect our athletes as they progress in the sport throughout their college years.
Ultimately, some athletes will wish to move on to amateur and professional MMA or Boxing Careers. This transition can be very difficult since current leadership in boxing and mma have been known to take advantage of young athletes physically and emotionally without regard to their well being. The NCGA is opposed to these abusive tactics and has developed a transition program into MMA or boxing for athletes that have successfully completed there college degree . The NCGA Mentor Program provides graduating seniors individual mentors from within the professional ranks that protect the fighter by providing advice, coaching and reputable connections to advance their athletic career.
The NCGA was founded with the student athlete in mind. We are composed of non-paid volunteers committed to helping our young people accomplish their goals and dreams, and to reach for excellence in everything they do. Through athletic endeavor, club leadership responsibilities and community involvement, NCGA students will leave college life to meet a competitive world head on.
We encourage you to take the next step in expanding the way your school sees student involvement in athletics. Join us in changing lives.
